When the sun enters the sign Virgo, the last third of summer begins. Plants in the Northern Hemisphere have reached their peak. We are still enjoying the local harvest of nature’s fruits and vegetables. The Moon moves into the water sign Cancer today and harmonized with the Virgo Sun. Today is an ideal day to prepare for school and to begin to prepare ourselves for the fall season, which begins in about a month. We can use this time wisely caring for our homes, our possessions our health and our soul. Enjoy the longer days as the sun moves toward the Equinox next month.
When Moon is in Scorpio, we can replace our obsessions with an insightful key to a secret treasure in our deepest psychology. On Tuesday May 17 at 7:09 am Eastern Daylight Time, Moon will be full in Scorpio. As I write this Sunday evening, Moon is already in early Scorpio where it will stay all day Monday and about half of Tuesday. Any emotional issues which may have been building in a kind of dramatic dark can now transform and head toward a trusting light.
Connection to Nature. These pretty and flowery blossoms remind me of yesterday’s fleeting full moon in Libra. The black branches are the Mars-Saturn opposition. These branches can look harsh if you just want to see flowers but if I let my eyes relax and wander around the photograph, it’s the geometric lines that keep the flow. The patterns start to look like Islamic art, which makes me think about rugs, so I start to design rugs.
This first one looked like a big, unwanted bug is taking over the carpet, reminding me about the headlines today that the U.S. is warned about the big bugaboo deficit. I take the branches and rearrange them and I find there is a strange kind of pressure from the corners. My eye keeps following the branches and my curiosity doesn’t stop until finally I come to place where my eyes can rest. This is just a pice of the picture, and it is just a place to rest or to place your feet when you wake up in the morning.
The next time you go outside and look up at the trees, let your eyes follow from one branch to the next and you can let this remind you that there are choices after all.
Today’s lunation is a super new moon. This has nothing to do with how close the Earth and moon are, which is the true definition of a super moon. I say super moon because this is a new moon, which means new beginning, and it is in Aries, which also has to do with beginnings. This new moon is conjunct Jupiter, a great big planet which tends to magnify and author big long stories. Today’s new moon is a great kickstart toward our self improvement where we can establish new patterns, habits and projects. This photograph is of a castagna tree. In a few weeks the buds turn into really beautiful blossoms. Let’s take that energy and run with it! Read more on my facebook page here.
Today as Sun, Moon, Mercury and Saturn are clustered together in the sign Libra, there was also a New Moon mid afternoon New York time. This is the kind of astrology which can be associated with intention-based events very much dependent upon our relating to one another. New Moons are also about new beginnings and when there is a New Moon in the sign Libra, this means that relating one-on-one may highlight any issues that have to do with Venus: Harmony, Beauty and Fairness. And with this New Moon, while there is a cluster of planets in Libra, the ruler of Libra, Venus, is about to go retrograde tomorrow. This to me creates a sense of origami, where we by choice fold our lives within our own concept of how our lives can go and can create new structures which at the very least offer new perspectives on a current themes. Over the next days we may reflect on our lives and see some transformations just as what happens when a dollar Bill is folded into a heart whose structure is dominated by a star.
Today the Virgo Moon makes supportive aspects to the Venus Mars conjunction which always helps to make our days go smoother. This is ideal energy to prepare a room for an event or ritual, decluttering, a bit of power cleaning, taking care of a pet and overall making space for soul healing so helpful and necessary every single day

When Moon is in Taurus, life is luscious, delicious, satisfying and valuable. Just as it makes no sense to hurry a massage, when Moon is in Taurus, it makes no sense to hurry life. Moon will stay in Taurus all day Sunday and Monday.
When I made this drawing, I was thinking of a lantern as a symbol of what we strive for, which is light, the higher octave of gold, or money. This woman is a light worker and her wings identify her as an angel. Her lantern reflects golden light on her skin and her shimmery dress. She stands solidly with two feet on the ground and in her left arm are some flowers she has just picked from the field in which she stands.
Taurean energy has tenacity. Just when others have gotten bored, disappointed or impatient, the Taurus will be standing there loyally holding the golden lantern reliably and dependably. And so it is fitting that this Moon series ends with Moon in Taurus. Now this angel light worker will stand guard on this blog over her eleven sibling archetypes, and every time you come back to check, she will still be standing here.
When Moon is in Pisces we can hypnotize ourselves into tricking ourselves into our intentions. We may melt into each other either in a dream or real life and it may be difficult to know which it is and it probably does not matter. In this picture, two fish have stopped to rest in the arms of a gentle woman. The flow of water swirls around this fleeting meeting. Soon the fish and the woman might swim in new directions. The spiritual closeness of the moment is eternal.
A gardener waters his plants at night by the light of the moon. All beings equal, he treats each one with respect and gentleness. Growing a garden gives him peace of mind, a sense of place and a community of kindred spirits. ____________ —Deirdre Tanton (This is what I write for Aquarius energy for my oracle cards.)
When Moon is in Aquarius we can think of our lives like a garden with many plants. We don’t marry our plants usually but we can still love them. We don’t worry if our plants live with us, because as Earthlings, they already do. We don’t worry if our plants will invite us to their birthday party or say I love you to us. We just visit them when we want and say I love you when we want. If you have trouble understanding Aquarius, this garden analogy should help put the necessary distance on the matter. Aquarius asks us to be intelligent, to use our minds, think strategically and for the future. Aquarius can seem mysterious because the energy can be unpredictable. That’s because Aquarius has two rulers, one new school and one old school. With Aquarius, you just never really know — and this is human!
Moon will be in Aquarius all weekend as Jupiter is conjunct Uranus. There is synergy in the air, like sparks almost. When out in the world or on the internet this weekend, notice the coincidences, the brief meetings the sense of the group, the watching out for the underdog and most of all delight in the garden of your life.
When Moon is in Capricorn, climbing to the top is an issue and will be done, even with ladders which don’t seem to reach. Moon stays in Capricorn all day Friday and Saturday on the east coast. If you are on a cruise on the Mediterranean, however, you may be celebrating one of your greatest life achievements. For us normalos we’ll keep our noses to the grindstone, plodding along toward highest our aspirations.
