This eclipse will stretch from China to Japan, then sweep across the Pacific Ocean to pass over Eureka California, Reno Nevada, Albuquerque New Mexico and on to Texas. By the time the eclipse arrives in Lubbock Texas, it will be sunset, which means this will be an extraordinary place to observe the eclipse. At a solar eclipse, the moon passes in front of the Sun which means a solar eclipse is always a new moon. On May 20-21, the moon will be far from the Earth, making the Moon’s diameter too small to cover the whole Sun. Only 94% of the Sun’s surface will be covered by the moon making a ring of light glow around the moon, which is called an annular eclipse. A new moon is a time to plant new seeds. A new moon solar eclipse has a much stronger effect than a normal monthly new moon. This new moon solar eclipse in Gemini suggests that the seeds in this case could be our ideas.
